February Reads

February may be the shortest month out of the year, but it was my best reading month so far with 14 books read. The numerous snow storms we had I think definitely contributed to my reading this month. Here are the books I read and some quick thoughts on them.

Kiss My Cupcake by Helena Hunting
I loved this book! It had been sitting on my shelf since the fall and I finally read it thanks to a bookstagram buddy read and I’m sorry I waited so long to pick it up. You can read my full review here.

Ties That Tether by Jane Igharo
I wanted to love this book because I’ve seen so many great reviews for it, but I thought it was just okay. For me, there were too many storylines competing for my attention with Azere’s relationship with her mother and the choices to live her life how she wanted to live it and Azere and Rafael’s relationship.

Life’s Too Short by Abby Jimenez*
Whether you have read Abby’s two previous books or not, add Life’s Too Short to your TBR list! Abby is an auto-read author to me and I loved this book so much, even more than The Happy Ever After Playlist. And while characters from her previous books show up, Life’s Too Short can definitely be read as a standalone. You can read my full review here.

Send For Me by Lauren Fox
If you are looking for a powerful historical fiction novel, I highly recommend Send For Me. While at times this book is heartbreaking, it is also extremely moving. You can read my full review here.

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
Don’t let the YA genre keep you away from this book, it is a very well written mystery and if you enjoy shows like Veronica Mars and Pretty Little Liars, you’ll definitely enjoy this book. You can read my full review here.

The Duke and I by Julia Quinn
I went in reverse and watched Bridgerton first before reading the book, something I hate to do, but regency romance is not a genre I read. While I knew things that were going to happen, reading the book after didn’t ruin my experience. I enjoyed both and if you love Bridgerton, I recommend starting the books.

Float Plan by Trish Doller*
This publishes on March 2 and add it to your TBR. I’ll be sharing my full review on the publication date as part of the blog tour, but this book is so much more than a romance novel and is one of the best books I have read about grief.

The Sunset Sisters by Cecilia Lyra
This was the book I liked the least out of what I read this month. The beginning was very slow and it took me a long time to get invested in the storyline. The ending felt rushed and I wish some was cut from the beginning to expand on the end more.

Trading Secrets by Rachael Eckles*
When Book Publicity Services reached out to me about this book, I had never heard of it, but I really enjoyed it. It has some tough scenes, but this book had me on the edge of my seat and I hope there is a sequel with the cliffhanger ending. You can read my full review here.

The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave*
Laura is one of my favorite authors and I love the new direction her writing went in with this book. This book hooked me from the beginning and the suspense and action do not let up. Will definitely be one of my favorite books of the year.

Make Mine a Cowboy by A.J. Pine
I finally read a cowboy romance book, something very outside my comfort zone. It was okay, not my favorite romance book, but I’ll definitely explore more in the genre. The main character Charlotte wasn’t my favorite and she kind of annoyed me throughout the whole book.

No More Words by Kerry Lonsdale*
I’ll read anything Kerry writes and I’m so honored I have been chosen to be part of Team No More and I get to read all three books in the series early. The series starts off with a bang with this book and I wish it was 2022 already so I had access to the second book! The suspense was perfect and every time I thought I knew what was going on, Kerry took it in another direction.

Black Buck by Mateo Askaripour
This is definitely a book that makes you think and for me at least made me uncomfortable because the treatment the main character Darren receives is something that happens every day in our society. I finished this book a few days ago and I’m still thinking about it.

Love on Beach Avenue by Jennifer Probst
I love a good Hallmark movie and this book reads like one, so of course I enjoyed it. It is the first book in a series and I’ll definitely be reading the other books. And if you have Kindle Unlimited, the book is free.
